News from April’ Events– 4/23/16, 4/29/16

The Montauk State Park outing on 4/23/16 was attended by 22 people.  Two birding groups kept their eyes and ears open and by the end of the day, 75 species were recorded, 24 of which were warblers.  Highlights were the Northern Waterthrush, 4 Cerulean Warblers, Magnolia Warbler and Wilson’s Warbler.  A full checklist is available […]

Controlled Burns at the Nature Center–3/28/16

Good news! Ideal weather conditions and manpower availability allowed us to burn the glade and the lower half of the prairie this past Monday.  Thanks to the Rolla Fire Department, additional burns were conducted with more than 20 acres put to the torch.  Box Turtle Woods and the areas near the parking lot were burnt. 2015 Christmas Bird Count Summary — 12/19/15, 12/30/15
